Afterschool Program

Williamsburg Montessori After School Program

Although Montessori students experience relatively low-stress school days, they still may need to blow off some steam at the end of the academic day. Fortunately, WMS’ Longhill Road campus has a wonderful environment and fun-loving staff ready to help facilitate elementary-age children in their transition period between school and home.

Afterschool Director Jessica Kaufman holds an M.A. in Crafts Education as well as over ten years of experience in camp counseling. Under her guidance, WMS’s Elementary Afterschool program has grown into her vision of a carefully prepared, just-structured-enough environment where students aged five to twelve know what is both expected of them and available to them, wherein they can explore and expand themselves safely. Jessica’s enthusiasm for the fiber arts has spread to the Afterschoolers, many of whom can now identify themselves as competent knitters, crocheters, and/or weavers. Outdoors, Jessica is also known for guiding students in cooperative games and projects, including hoop dancing, trust activities, foot races, silly songs and dances, and just generally having a great time.

Assistant Corinna Hann brings international experience, having worked and studied in many countries around the globe, and is a scholarly ally to all of our book-loving children.
